This isn’t the first time and probably won’t be the last Cristiano Ronaldo has been compared to Jesus Christ.

Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro, posted an intriguing status on Instagram following Portugal winning EURO 2016.

The Real Madrid superstar, as we all know by now, came off injured 25 minutes into Portugal’s 1-0 final win against France and roared his side onto victory from the sidelines with inspirational speeches, mind-blowing antics and more.

His knee injury has not yet been diagnosed properly and although he calls it a small injury, other reports claim he could’ve done serious damage to his left ACL after Dimitri Payet’s strong tackle.

Regardless, Ronaldo’s sister had the following message following Portugal clinching its first-ever major title as her brother captained the side to glory.

“These tears I cried for my wounded brother were like daggers to the heart, and we all cried with him for the awful pain we had together. But God is great and just as our savior Jesus Christ suffered on the cross for a better world for us, Cristiano cried in the pain of not being able to help his teammates and his beloved people.”

Below is the post in full.

I’m all for adulation for a family member or a hero but I’m going to go ahead and say Ronaldo’s knee injury isn’t quite as significant as his sister suggests.
