Real Madrid has announced that the club has agreed to a new contract with Cristiano Ronaldo that will keep him at the Bernabeu through the summer of 2021.
That means Ronaldo will be 36 years old when his deal expires, likely keeping him tied to Real Madrid to the end of his European career.
According to reports, the contract keeps Ronaldo as the highest-paid player at Real Madrid, shortly after Gareth Bale eclipsed his old contract with his new deal signed a week ago. Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Bale have recently signed new deals with Madrid.
“I don’t see anything else in my career [except Madrid],” Ronaldo said last month. “That is what I want most. This is the biggest club in the world, so it should have the best players.”
Ronaldo has five goals in eight games this La Liga season, while also adding a pair of Champions League goals in four matches. The club won Sunday morning, beating Leganes 3-0 behind a pair of goals from Bale.
