USMNT and AC Milan star Christian Pulisic is expected to be out injured until early 2025, while the red-hot winger has also revealed his frustration about the narrative around American players in Europe.
Pulisic, 26, is having a superb season for Milan, scoring eight goals and adding six assists for the Italian giants to back up his brilliant debut campaign in Italy last season.
But Pulisic came off injured during their 2-1 defeat at Atalanta on Friday and according to The Athletic, Pulisic will not play again until January due to a tear in his calf muscle. That means he will miss the Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade and three Serie A games.
Milan have the Supercoppa semifinal against Juventus in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 3 and Pulisic could make his return then.
Pulisic hits out at lack of respect for American players in Europe
In other Pulisic related news, in a docuseries called “Pulisic” made by CBS Sports, the American sensation was asked about a lack of respect for USMNT players in Europe.
This was his response...
“For sure it’s out there,” Pulisic said. “It p***** me off in a way. If it comes down to me or them and it’s a 50-50 call for the coach who’s going to play or something like that, I think it exists.”
The trailer for the docuseries also shows current USMNT star Weston McKennie and USMNT legend Clint Dempsey talk about what they feel is a very clear bias against American players from European nations.
Does this exist?
It does to a certain extent but Dempsey, Pulisic and McKennie have proven most of the outdated narratives about American soccer players wrong over the last decade or so.
Still, when you speak to American players or coaches around Europe most will tell you they feel like there’s a lack of respect towards them.
That is changing slowly but surely as more and more American players play all over Europe, but there’s still a long way to go.
