Bukayo Saka injury update — Arsenal superstar on crutches after win at Crystal Palace

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka limped off the pitch before the half-hour mark of the Gunners’ Saturday match versus Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, and he left the stadium on crutches.

There was little hesitation in removing Saka from the game in the 25th minute, moments after he was prone on the turf with what appeared to be a right leg injury.

Saka, perhaps the best player in this season’s Premier League, had anguish on his face as he was led off the pitch by trainers. He appeared to be getting treatment on his knee, but we’ll await specifics.

Leandro Trossard took his place and Arsenal went on to win 5-1.

The 23-year-old Saka has nine goals and 13 minutes in 24 matches across all competitions this season, including five goals and 10 assists in 16 PL matches.

Bukayo Saka injury update — Mikel Arteta reaction to star’s injury

Arteta’s disposition says that nothing awful has been confirmed for Saka, but there’s a lot to be determined for the 23-year-old winger especially after the crutches footage emerged (see below).

“We lost [Raheem Sterling] yesterday and then Bukayo today. That’s a worry. We don’t know the extent of the injury. We have to assess him but the other players have come in. They come in and are really performing. Let’s hope it’s not too much.”

Arsenal are in the thick of the title race again, as Man City continues to fall away. With Ipswich Town at home next and Brentford away after that, the Gunners can probably be afford to be extra cautious with Saka.

In fact, the Gunners’ schedule doesn’t get crazy until mid-January, when they’ll face Man United in the FA Cup, Spurs and Aston Villa in the Premier League, and Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League all within 11 days.
