The Premier League’s second-longest active winning streak belonged to Bournemouth, but it stops at four games to become an unbeaten streak.

The Cherries move sixth on 25 points, ahead of Aston Villa on goal differential.

Lucas Paqueta converted a Tyler Adams-conceded penalty for West Ham, whose 19 points seat them 14th.

West Ham in Lopetegui’s corner as Fabianski stars

The hosts deserved all three points on attacking and possession merit, but goalkeepers are not afterthoughts and Lukasz Fabianski flexed his West Ham legend muscles with eight saves on 29 Bournemouth shot attempts. But West Ham were dangerous with their 16 shot attempts, out-producing the hosts on xG, and Lucas Paqueta’s celebration with Julen Lopetegui showed that the Irons are behind their Europa League-winning boss. Lopetegui just wishes they could’ve held onto their late lead.

“We deserved to win at Leicester,” Lopetegui said. “Today we did well too. Above all I want to highlight the behavior of the group. All the players work very hard to do their best for the team. This is the first step to be strong and a better team. We are going to keep positive.”

Max Kilman was impressed with West Ham’s work ethic, and said the Irons are starting to get results to match their performances.

“We have always had high belief,” Kilman said, via the BBC. “Things have not been going so well but there are still a lot of things to look forward to. Hopefully we can keep getting results. We have an incredible squad of players. We need to keep pushing and I’m sure things will be on the up.”

West Ham penalty! Lucas Paqueta goal — Bournemouth 0-1 West Ham (87th minute)

Arrizabalaga will stare down Lucas Paqueta, who has a chance to put West Ham in prime position for another win.

The Brazilian’s stuttering run-up freezes the keeper and Paqueta rolls it the other way.

Paqueta runs all the way over to Julen Lopetegui to celebrate with his manager.

Wan-Bissaka drives the right and his cross is nodded on frame by Fullkrug.

Chris Kavanagh is over to the screen for several looks at it. He’s given the penalty.

Bournemouth subs

Enes Unal and Philip Billing for Kluivert and Evanilson in the 79th minute.

Bournemouth immediately attack with Billing seeing a shot blocked by Konstantinos Mavropanos, then laying the rebound back for Christie.

The Scot drills a shot that’s within Fabianski’s wingspan to keep it scoreless.

West Ham subs

Crysencio Summerville and 19-year-old Oliver Scarles enter for Edson Alvarez, who is on yellow, and Kudus.

Close at both ends

Kudus does well to settle a hard, knee-height entry pass from Fullkrug.

The Ghanaian sets to drill a left-footed effort toward Arrizabalaga, but Illia Zabarnyi thunders in to block the chance for a corner.

Bournemouth clears it and get a corner of its own, where Evanilson nods Christie service toward goal, slapped over by Lukasz Fabianski!

Seems fair to imagine that West Ham could look to Crysencio Sumemrville soon after the break.

Carlos Soler swirls one wide

West Ham’s Spanish midfielder works a 1-2 with Lucas Paqueta and shapes to shoot from the corner of the 18.

The ball spins, possibly taking a small turn off Ryan Christie, and dips wide of the far post.

0-0, 29'.

Bowen chips off the bar

Jarrod Bowen drives toward the Bournemouth box, but finds himself surrounded by three defenders and no outlet.

He pauses, then wheels to chip a shot over Arrizabalaga that just clips the face of the cross bar.

There’s some danger!

Kepa Arrizabalaga plays a long ball that Semenyo nods to Evanilson.

The Brazilian does well to get it to Justin Kluivert, who sends Semenyo into the box for a shot that bounds wide of the goal.

Awaiting danger, but both teams showing readiness

Bournemouth and West Ham have taken turns driving play, but we’ve yet to see any real danger from their four combined shots (three for the Cherries).
