A BBC report claims that Steven Gerrard’s deal to join the L.A. Galaxy on an 18-month contract after the end of the Premier League season is “on the brink”.
Among the details are Gerrard’s salary, which will pay him $115,000 each week to total a little over $9 million by the time the contract ends in 2016.
Gerrard’s Liverpool contract expires in June, which means he’d join up with Robbie Keane and company somewhere near the midpoint of the Major League Soccer schedule.

According to the report, Gerrard’s deal ties him for the second-highest annual salary in MLS, alongside Toronto FC’s Michael Bradley and Jermaine Defoe. Kaka will be paid the most next season, at a little over $6.5 million.
Advanced stats say Gerrard was among the best players in the Premier League last season, and his possession numbers are still very high this season. With the exception of the fact that a 35-year-old player’s body is a major risk for depleted speed, Gerrard should keep the Galaxy among the league’s elite teams.
