Fans of the Gunners will be hoping to see plenty of moves in the January transfer market from Arsene Wenger as Arsenal’s stuttering start to the Premier League season has badly exposed their lack of strength in-depth.

Right now Arsenal are playing with a teenage center back at right back and a left back at center back and have only one full-fit experienced central defender. Simply put, the injuries that have hit Wenger’s defense have been a nightmare as they slumped to a shock defeat at Swansea City last time out and sit sixth in the PL standings.
According to reports from the Daily Express in the UK, the Arsenal boss is hoping to bolster his backline and add another attacking midfielder, just because that’s what Arsenal like to do. Two players from Barcelona are potentially on their way to the Emirates in January for a combined $45 million
Pedro and Dani Alves are the players reportedly lined up by the Gunners, as Wenger looks to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season. With Alexis Sanchez the standout player for Arsenal this season following his big-money summer move from Barcelona, it seems as though Wenger is keen to raid the Catalan giants for more players.
Right back Alves has been linked with a number of PL teams as his contract expires at Barca next summer, while Spanish international winger Pedro has fallen down the pecking order with Neymar and Luis Suarez arriving over the last 12 months. Pedro is 27 and has an impressive goals to game ratio with 88 goals in 258 appearance in his eight-year spell with Barca, while he’s also netted 15 in 46 games for the Spanish national team.
This would be a pretty audacious double swoop by the Gunners, but a much needed one if they are to become serious contenders for the PL and European titles this season and beyond. Can Wenger pull it off?
