Alvaro Negredo signs for Valencia on loan, $40 million deal in place

Negredo

Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo has joined Spanish side Valencia on loan for this season, and the Spanish side have the option to buy him for $40 million.

Negredo, 29, arrived at City last summer from Sevilla but after a blistering start to his Premier League career he struggled with injury and loss of form.

The striker, know as ‘the beast’ for his bullish style of play, broke his foot in preseason and will be out of action until October but Valencia have taken a gamble on him.

Negredo scored 23 in 48 games but failed to score in his final 16 games for City as he went through one heck of a barren spell.

That said, it is quite surprising that Negredo has been allowed to leave, as City now have only Edin Dzeko, Stevan Jovetic and Sergio Aguero as recognized strikers. Both Jovetic and Aguero have had injury-hit spells over the last year, so letting a forward leave is risky from Manuel Pellegrini.

City scored 102 goals in the PL last season and should be fine without him, but Negredo was quite a populat character around the Etihad Stadium.

Below you can see the message Valencia sent out to their fans, as Negredo has left England.
