Ex-Baylor DE Shawn Oakman wants a chance to play in the NFL.
“I want to play football at the highest level and just really finally get my chance,” Oakman told KWTX Waco last week. Oakman was found not guilty of sexual assault last month after being arrested days before the NFL Draft back in 2016. He went undrafted following the arrest, and the only football he has played since was for a couple of small indoor teams. It seems unlikely he lands on a roster.

Ex-Baylor DE Shawn Oakman was found not guilty of sexual assault.
Oakman went undrafted after being arrested shortly before the NFL Draft, but he’s legally cleared up now. Oakman hasn’t played football since 2015, so it would be a surprise if he received a chance. There was a time when the 6-foot-8, 269-pound All-American was receiving Round 1 buzz.

Ex-Baylor DE Shawn Oakman was indicted by a grand jury on charges of second-degree felony sexual assault in Waco, Tex. on Wednesday.
Oakman was arrested back in April after a Baylor grad student accused him of sexually assaulting her earlier that month. He was released on $25,000 bond and later went undrafted after initially being viewed as a second- or third-round prospect. Baylor’s all-time sack leader, Oakman faces up to 20 years in prison. Oakman claims he and the woman had consensual sex.

Baylor DE Shawn Oakman has drawn zero interest as an undrafted free agent.
Baylor coach Art Briles said no teams have called him regarding Oakman. The 6-foot-8, 269-pound All-American was arrested last month on sexual assault charges, and it was later revealed he also roughed up his ex-girlfriend back in 2013. Oakman won’t be with a team until the legal matters are resolved, and even then, Oakman may have a tough time finding work. Before the 2015 season, he was being viewed as a shoo-in first-round pick.

Baylor DE Shawn Oakman is the subject of a rape investigation.
The alleged incident took place Sunday morning. The victim had to be hospitalized, and reported the incident immediately. Police took evidence from Oakman’s apartment on Sunday afternoon. Oakman has admitted to having sex with the accuser, but insists it was consensual. Oakman is considered a day-three prospect. He has a history of off-the-field issues, and was kicked off Bill O’Brien’s Penn State team in 2012.

Baylor DE Shawn Oakman was arrested Wednesday on sexual assault charges.
Led by a female Baylor student claiming Oakman sexually assaulted her at Oakman’s apartment following a night out at Waco bar “Scruffy Murphy’s,” police executed a search warrant at Oakman’s home on April 3. Oakman has been served with two more warrants, one for his DNA and the other for his cellphone. He is currently being held at McLennan County Jail, nearby Baylor University.

One NFC executive told NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein that Baylor DE Shawn Oakman is “undraftable” following Wednesday’s sexual assault arrest.
“Those charges are not going away in two weeks. He’s undraftable now,” said the executive. A massive man at 6-foot-8, 287 pounds with vine-like arms (35 3/4") and high-level NFL athleticism for his size, Oakman was a projected second-day pick before the incident. He is currently in jail and almost certainly won’t hear his name called anytime during the April 28-30 draft weekend.
