Chiefs promoted RB Shaun Draughn from the practice squad.
Draughn, Johnny White’s committee partner at North Carolina last season, spent 13 weeks on the Chiefs’ practice squad. He’ll serve as depth behind Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster in Sunday’s finale against the Broncos.

Shaun Draughn rushed 11 times for just 11 yards and added three receptions for 12 yards versus the Bucs in Week 6.
Jamaal Charles wasn’t alone in finding the sledding tough versus the Bucs’ fourth-ranked run defense. Draughn nearly matched Charles’ 14 touches, but he’s likely headed back to the bench in favor of Peyton Hillis after the Week 7 bye.

Peyton Hillis (ankle) was still in a walking boot as of Wednesday.
Hillis has been using the boot ever since leaving last week’s game early. It’s a sign of a pretty serious sprain. Jamaal Charles projects for another monster workload against the Chargers this week, with Shaun Draughn functioning as the backup. The Chiefs have not released a timetable on Hillis yet.

Chiefs RB Shaun Draughn was limited again in Thursday’s practice.
Draughn is not expected to miss Sunday’s game against Bucs. Jamaal Charles’ backup is ranked No. 36 among fantasy backs this week.

Shaun Draughn (ankle) was upgraded to full participation in Friday’s practice, and is officially probable for Week 6.
With Peyton Hillis again sidelined, Draughn is ready to back-up Jamaal Charles. Although the over/under on the Chiefs’ number of passes attempted with Brady Quinn under center this week should be around 20, Draughn isn’t a particularly compelling deep-league flex play.

Peyton Hillis (ankle) is not expected to play in Week 6 versus the Bucs.
Beat writer Adam Teicher calls the injury a high-ankle sprain, which explains why Hillis has been out for multiple weeks. Jamaal Charles can continue to expect a heavy workload, with Shaun Draughn and Cyrus Gray on hand to give him a breather.

Shaun Draughn was limited in Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury.
Draughn apparently picked up a nick in Sunday’s loss, but he should be fine for Week 6. With Peyton Hillis (ankle) not expected to play against the Bucs, Draughn will again serve as Jamaal Charles’ back-up. With the Chiefs likely to go extremely run heavy with Brady Quinn under center, Draughn is a mildly intriguing deep league flex option.

Peyton Hillis (ankle) was spotted in a walking boot on Monday.
Hillis left last week’s win over the Saints in the third quarter and didn’t return. No one really noticed because Jamaal Charles ripped off 233 yards on the ground. Still, the Chiefs won’t want to make a habit of giving Charles 39 touches in one game. If Hillis can’t go against the Chargers on Sunday, Shaun Draughn would see a boost in touches.

Shane Draughn rushed seven times for 22 yards and added three receptions for 26 yards versus the Saints in Week 3.
Thanks to garbage time in Week 1 and injuries to Jamaal Charles and Peyton Hillis the following two weeks, Draughn has at least six touches in every game. Charles touched the ball a career-high 38 times Sunday, an indication that Draughn would max out as a borderline flex play if Hillis missed Week 4 versus the Chargers with an ankle injury.

Peyton Hillis (ankle) will not play in Sunday’s game against the Ravens.
Hillis hasn’t played since sprained his ankle against the Saints in Week 3. Last week, Shaun Draughn totaled 46 yards on eight touches as Jamaal Charles’ backup.
