The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported on Monday that Shareef O’Neal signed a six-figure contract with the NBA G-League Ignite.
O’Neal averaged 4.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in four Summer League appearances with the Lakers. He won’t be playing in the NBA for at least another season, and he probably won’t be much of a fantasy asset if he does make it. Feel free to disregard him in fantasy hoops.

Shareef O’Neal will play with the Lakers in Summer League after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
O’Neal recently worked out for the Lakers, despite averaging just 2.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game during his last season with LSU. Perhaps the family name is paying dividends here, as he’ll get a shot to play for the team that has father won three championships with. It’s unlikely that he makes the roster at all, so there’s no impact in fantasy here.

Shareef O’Neal will be eligible for the 2022 NBA Draft.
O’Neal spent three years at LSU, but he never averaged more than 14.5 minutes per game, and in his final season he averaged just 2.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and not much else in 9.2 minutes a night. Maybe a team will take a chance on him in the late, second round, but he’s not expected to be a first-round pick.
