According to Marc Stein, the Mavericks are in talks with Pistons assistant Sean Sweeney to join the team in a similar capacity.
There were reports that the Pistons were hoping to extend Sweeney’s contract in order to keep him on Dwane Casey’s staff, but he may be moving on. Per Stein, a move to Dallas would reunite Sweeney with new Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd. This would be Sweeney’s third stint as an assistant on a Kidd-lead coaching staff, as the two worked together in both Brooklyn and Milwaukee.
