Colts signed S Sean Davis, formerly of the Steelers, to a one-year contract.
Primarily used as a special teamer with the Steelers last year, Davis totaled 12 tackles and one fumble recovery with one start. He joins Khari Willis, Julian Blackmon and George Odum as depth at their respective position.

  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers signed S Sean Davis to a one-year contract.
Davis departed Pittsburgh back in May for Washington, and was able to secure a $2 million signing bonus before his release this week. Now he’s back with the team that knows him and drafted him. Not bad business. Davis adds depth behind Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds.

  • FA Defensive Back #30
    Washington released DB Sean Davis.
Davis signed a one-year deal with a $2 million signing bonus in March. Washington saves $1.5 million from his release. With Davis gone, seventh-round rookie Kamren Curl is looking likely to make the final roster.

  • FA Defensive Back #30
Redskins agreed to terms with S Sean Davis, formerly of the Steelers, on a one-year contract.
The deal is worth “up to” $5 million. Davis missed all but one game with a shoulder injury last season. He was an every-down player the three previous years but not a particularly good one. Ron Rivera has a history of coaching up defensive backs, so it’s a solid landing place for the 26-year-old. The Redskins also have Landon Collins, Montae Nicholson and Deshazor Everett under contract. Davis will be the favorite to start opposite Collins.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers placed S Sean Davis (shoulder) on injured reserve.
Paxton Lynch was signed to the practice squad in a corresponding move. With Davis likely done for the year, recent acquisition Minkah Fitzpatrick will slide seamlessly into Pittsburgh’s vacant free safety spot. The team now has eight former first-rounders on defense.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers second-round DB Sean Davis has initially taken Senquez Golson’s (Lisfranc) spot in the slot.
The Steelers had insisted the college hybrid would be a strong safety, but they’re getting desperate at cornerback. William Gay is another option if Davis isn’t up to the challenge/needed too badly at safety.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers signed second-round SS Sean Davis to a four-year contract.
Davis played both corner and safety in college, but the Steelers have already said he’ll be at strong safety next to FS Mike Mitchell. He’s a likely Week 1 starter.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers S Sean Davis is recovering from shoulder surgery, but is expected to be “100 percent” for training camp.
The swiss-army knife defensive back played 742 snaps as a rookie, primarily at strong safety. He was an every-down player down the stretch, including the postseason. Strong safety should remain Davis’ home for 2017.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers S Sean Davis is anticipating moving to free safety.
Davis played 742 snaps as a rookie last season, primarily at strong safety. He’s recovering from shoulder surgery but is expected to be ready for camp. Although he’ll move positions in the Steelers’ secondary, Davis will again be an every-down player this upcoming season.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Steelers selected Maryland DB Sean Davis with the No. 58 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
Davis (6'1/201) made 40 starts for the Terps, breaking out as a senior for five forced fumbles and three interceptions. Davis shuttled between corner and safety at Maryland and offers versatility. He’s also a terrific athlete, running 4.46 at the Combine with a 37 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot-6 broad jump. On tape, Davis needs to polish his coverage game — he coughed up 10 TD passes in his final two seasons — and was an inefficient tackler. He reminds of Jimmy Wilson as a safety-corner hybrid who may ultimately struggle to nail down a starting job at either position.
