ESPN Cleveland believes Browns NT Phil Taylor (torn pectoral) could miss up to 12 games.
If so, he could easily end up not playing in 2012. Taylor will almost certainly begin the year on the PUP list, but could be transferred to injured reserve soon after Week 6 if Cleveland’s season is already in the tank. Browns beat writer Tony Grossi expects Scott Paxson to open OTAs as Taylor’s fill-in, but for rookies John Hughes and Billy Winn to push for snaps.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Scott Paxson has been lining up as the Browns’ starting nose tackle next to Ahtyba Rubin in OTA practices.
After first trying out for the NFL in 2006, Paxson spent time on the practice squads of the Steelers and Packers. He played all 16 games for the Browns last season, albeit in a reserve role. Paxson appears to have the early edge on rookies John Hughes and Billy Winn to fill in for starter Phil Taylor (torn pectoral).
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Browns released DL Scott Paxson with an injury settlement.
Paxson appeared in all 16 games for the Browns last season, making 21 tackles and one sack. He’ll look for work as a reserve run stuffer.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Steelers signed DT Scott Paxson to a futures contract.
Paxson has spent time on PIttsburgh’s practice squad over the past two seasons, but hasn’t made an impact in the NFL after not being drafted out of Penn State.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Steelers signed DT Scott Paxson and released LB Patrick Bailey.
Paxson will backup Chris Hoke Sunday for the Steelers, who will be without Casey Hampton in the middle of their defensive line.
  • Steelers signed T Jeremy Parquet to their active roster and released DT Scott Paxson.
Parquet has been with the Chiefs and Rams previously.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Steelers rookie DE Scott Paxson’s rape trial is scheduled for September 27-28.
It’s conveniently Pittsburgh’s bye week. Paxson went undrafted in April, likely in part because he was accused of assaulting a fellow Penn State student while still in school.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #69
Steelers promoted DL Scott Paxson from their practice squad.
Paxson can play nose and end and will be a backup at both positions.
  • PIT Running Back
Steelers waived RB Justin Vincent, DT Scott Paxson, LS Matt Stewart, S Justin Thornton, and LB Renauld Williams.
Vincent has been a mainstay on the Steelers’ practice squad the past two seasons, but he’s never come close to seeing game action. Stewart’s release locks in veteran Greg Warren as the long snapper.
  • IND Quarterback
Browns signed QB Jarrett Brown, DL Scott Paxson and CB Ramzee Robinson to reserve/future contracts.
Brown is a project that made waves at last year’s Senior Bowl. He was waived by the Niners once they added Troy Smith. Robinson was Mr. Irrelevant in 2007 and has already had stints with the Lions, Eagles, Browns and Redskins.
