Santonio Holmes (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday.
He didn’t do it in style. Holmes dropped passes, muffed punts, and appears to have a long road in his quest to start as a rookie.

The Associated Press reports WR Santonio Holmes was arrested for domestic violence early Monday.
The incident took place in Columbus, Ohio. Holmes, Pittsburgh’s first-round pick, also was arrested for disorderly conduct charge over Memorial Day. At the time, coach Bill Cowher said, “I don’t have any long-term concerns.” Being convicted of two charges usually results in a league suspension.

WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that Sanonio Holmes faces one count of domestic violence and two counts of assault.
As we reported this morning, this is Holmes’ second brush with the law in two months, although this one is clearly more serious. Holmes will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.

Santonio Holmes pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of domestic violence and simple assault.
If there is a silver lining here, it’s that the charges are misdemeanors. “He’s wrongly accused of domestic violence and assault,” said Holmes’ unfortunately named attorney, Sam Shamansky.
