Giants signed K Ryan Santoso, formerly of the Jaguars.
Santoso was waived by Jacksonville this week. It’d be a shock if Santoso won the Giants’ starting job over Graham Gano, who in 2021 made 29 of his 33 field goal tries as New York’s most potent weapon. Gano could be dealing with an injury, as the Giants plan on sitting him for their final preseason game.

    Jaguars waived K Ryan Santoso.
Jacksonville now has zero kickers on its roster. Santoso made two of his three field goal tries last year in three games for the Jags before being waived. He had competed for Carolina’s starting gig in summer 2021. Look for the Jaguars to sign at least one kicker in the coming days.

  • FA Kicker #39
Jaguars signed K Elliott Fry, formerly of the Falcons.
The team released kicker Andrew Mevis in a corresponding move. Fry opened the 2021 season on Atlanta’s practice squad before finding his way to the Chiefs, Packers, and Bengals over a three-week stretch at the end of the season. He was only active for two games, split between the Chiefs and Bengals. With fellow journeyman kicker Ryan Santoso as his only competition in Jacksonville, Fry has a strong shot at landing a starting gig this year.

    Panthers waived K Ryan Santoso.
Carolina will keep the seventh-round pick they had traded conditionally to New York. Santoso went 2-for-2 on field-goal tries, sinking a 29- and 22-yarder against the Jets, but did miss one of his two extra point attempts on the afternoon. The team will continue looking elsewhere to fill that role ahead of Sunday.

ESPN’s David Newton speculated that it “feels like” Ryan Santoso is ahead in the Panthers’ kicking competition.
Joey Slye is in a slump and the Panthers traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Giants for Santoso on Thursday. Slye missed a 49-yard field goal in Carolina’s preseason game on Friday against the Steelers, while Santoso knocked one in from 52 yards away. The Panthers’ offense isn’t anything special, but this is still a situation to monitor.

  • FA Kicker (FG) #2
Panthers acquired K Ryan Santoso from Giants in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick.
The Giants can lock in that conditional seventh-rounder if Santoso is on Carolina’s roster for two games. The 26-year-old stood out during Giants camp this summer but failed to pass Graham Gano for the starting job. It’s another worrisome addition around Joey Slye, who Carolina’s coach staff have described as going through a “slump.”
