Purvis is a former undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He’ll have a decent shot to stick in New York with Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum coming off torn ACLs. Marshall played college ball at Marshall (where else). White, 28, is a veteran of NFL training camps but has never actually started a game.

Purvis replaces Jerramy Stevens, who was released following drug charges. The former Boston College Golden Eagle’s strength is his pass-catching, but he’s not going to be threatening Kellen Winslow’s reps.

This is Snead’s second release by the Bucs. Tampa decided Rudy Carpenter was a better third-string option. The team is keeping six linebackers, but McCoy may land on the practice squad. Purvis played at Boston College.
