Cowboys signed RB Ryan Nall, formerly of the Bears.
The Cowboys’ official site called Nall a fullback when announcing the signing, so that is likely where Dallas plans to use him if he makes the roster. Regardless of his position designation on offense, special teams will be where Nall makes a push for the roster.

Bears declared RB Ryan Nall, DB Duke Shelley, G/T Elijah Wilkinson, OG Lachavious Simmons, and DT Akiem Hicks inactive for Week 18 against the Vikings.
Hicks was already ruled out with an ankle injury. Nall, the Bears’ last-string running back, carried the ball one time for four yards and caught a four-yard pass across 19 snaps this season.

    Bears released RB Ryan Nall.
Nall was called up from the practice squad mid-2020 to form a committee with Artavis Pierce and Cordarrelle Patterson — the extent of the former’s career highlights — for David Montgomery. With 13 career touches and vast special teams experience as a blocker, Nall still has a tremendous chance to land on a practice squad ahead of Week 1.

  • FA Running Back #35
    Bears re-signed RB Ryan Nall.
An exclusive rights free agent, Nall’s choices were accept the Bears’ offer or retire. A 2018 UDFA, Nall is a special teamer with 13 career touches, 11 of which came in 2020. He turned 25 in December.

Ryan Nall rushed one time for zero yards in the Bears’ Week 10 loss to the Vikings.
Nall added one reception for 18 yards on two targets. Even with David Montgomery (concussion) out, Nall was not a factor in the Bears offense. Lamar Miller did not record a carry either. In a comical twist of fate, the best Chicago running back for fantasy purposes is hardly a running back at all. RB/WR hybrid Cordarrelle Patterson is the only Bears runner with any value until Montgomery returns.

David Montgomery (concussion) won’t play in Week 10 against the Vikings.
Cordarrelle Patterson and Ryan Nall are expected to handle a majority of the team’s backfield touches in Montgomery’s stead. Coach Matt Nagy also said there’s a terrific chance Lamar Miller is promoted from the practice squad Saturday afternoon. Nall is the most intriguing option among that group for his role in the receiving game, but Miller would likely lead both in carries. None offer anything of substance outside of being low-end FLEXes for desperate fantasy players.

  • DET Running Back #5
Bears RB David Montgomery has entered the league’s concussion protocol.
Montgomery exited Sunday’s game against the Titans with a concussion. He had another uninspiring performance, rushing 14 times for 30 times and catching three passes for 12 yards. A workhorse role has made Montgomery barely startable in 12-team leagues as he’s once again among fantasy football’s biggest letdowns. Ryan Nall caught four of four targets and scored a touchdown in Montgomery’s absence against Tennessee, and Cordarrelle Patterson had three rushes and four catches. Lamar Miller could be called up from the team’s practice squad if Montgomery is expected to miss Week 10 against the Vikings.

  • FA Running Back #35
Bears RB Ryan Nall caught all four of his targets for 35 yards and one touchdown in the Bears’ Week 9 loss to the Titans.
Nall didn’t record a rushing attempt with David Montgomery exiting the game after a head injury. He was targeted on four of his seven pass routes against Tennessee. Cordarrelle Patterson, meanwhile, had three rushes for 13 yards and caught four passes for 27 yards against Tennessee. Montgomery missing Week 10 against the Vikings could lead to a split backfield between Patterson and Nall unless the team activated Lamar Miller from its practice squad with intentions to play the veteran in Montgomery’s absence. Only the most running back-hungry fantasy players should be interested in Chicago’s backfield. Nall and C-Patt are OK pickups this week in deep formats.
