Robert Griffin III said he trains every day and would be willing to return to the NFL.
A commentator for ESPN, RGIII reportedly piqued the interest of a few NFL teams this spring when he ran an unofficial 4.48 40-yard dash in Rich Eisen’s charity event. “I am ready to go right now. I train every day. I throw and workout. I know what it takes to get my body ready and I am doing those things,” said Griffin, 32, who last played for the Ravens in 2020, rushing for 68 yards on seven carries and throwing for 33 yards and an interception before suffering an injury in his lone start that season. “Yes, it is a little bit tougher when you are flying around everywhere doing stuff for TV, but when you really want something, you make it work. So, if I get that call this year, next year, or five years from now I will be ready to play.” Griffin would make some sense as a backup quarterback in an offense predicated on a mobile signal caller. The Eagles and Ravens come to mind.

  • FA Wide Receiver #14
The Cleveland Plain Dealer believes Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon will “certainly” be on the Browns’ radar at No. 4 overall if they don’t trade up to select Baylor QB Robert Griffin III.
The paper also believes the Browns will take “a long, hard look” at Alabama RB Trent Richardson if they pass on Griffin and let free agent Peyton Hillis walk. The odds seem high that the Browns will use at least one of their first-round picks on an offensive skill player for the first time since they selected Brady Quinn at No. 22 overall in 2007.

  • FA Quarterback #3
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent QB Robert Griffin III will join ESPN as a broadcaster.
Griffin still wants to play and reportedly has an out in his contract if an opportunity arises, but that seems unlikely given that every franchise has been able to sign him since January. He’ll go the route that many former veterans take and instead cash in on his football knowledge in the booth. Griffin, 31, most recently totaled 101 yards from scrimmage in a single spot-start with the Ravens before landing on injured reserve last year.

  • FA Quarterback #3
    Ravens waived Robert Griffin III.
UDFA Tyler Huntley showed enough in completing 6-of-13 passes for 60 yards (and rushing three times for 32 yards) in his fourth-quarter relief of Lamar Jackson in the Divisional Round to enter camp as the team’s No. 2 quarterback. It’s possible Griffin lands back with Baltimore in free agency, but his reserve role will instead likely fall to Trace McSorley. The team also waived veterans DB Davontae Harris, WR De’Anthony Harris (COVID opt-out) and DB Tramon Williams.

  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens placed QB Trace McSorley (knee) on injured reserve.
The early Tuesday reports were that McSorley’s injury was minor and he would not miss the rest of the season. He will now miss the rest of the regular season, leaving UDFA “Tyler Huntley” to back up Lamar Jackson with Robert Griffin III (thigh) also on the shelf. RGIII is eligible to return in Week 16.

  • FA Quarterback #3
Ravens placed Robert Griffin III (thigh) on injured reserve.
Griffin got one start, threw for 33 yards, rushed for 68 yards, and landed on IR with a thigh injury. The Ravens hope Lamar Jackson (COVID-19) can rejoin the active roster before Tuesday’s game against the Cowboys, but if he can’t play, Trace McSorley would get the start for Baltimore. The second-year QB completed two of his six attempts last week against Pittsburgh, hitting Marquise Brown for a long touchdown. McSorley would be nothing beyond a last ditch superflex option against Dallas.

  • FA Quarterback #3
Robert Griffin III (thigh) would not have practiced Thursday.
It is just an estimation ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Cowboys. The Ravens are not expected to take the practice field before Saturday. Lamar Jackson (COVID-19) will be eligible to return for Week 13, but coach John Harbaugh has been mum on his status. Trace McSorley will get the call if neither Jackson nor RGIII can go.

  • BAL Quarterback #8
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh wouldn’t say whether Lamar Jackson (COVID-19) will be available for Week 13 against Dallas.
The Ravens’ offense was a total disaster with Jackson sidelined in Week 12 against the Steelers. The team’s Week 13 game being bumped to Monday give Jackson a chance to play in a mouth watering matchup against the Cowboys. Robert Griffin III, if he’s recovered from the hamstring injury that knocked him out of Wednesday’s game against Pittsburgh, could get a second start if Jackson is held out. Trace McSorley -- who’s probably better for Baltimore’s pass catchers -- would get the start if RGIII is unavailable. He would be a desperation superflex option.

  • FA Quarterback #3
Robert Griffin III exited his Week 12 start against the Steelers with a left hamstring injury.
Griffin’s day ended in the fourth quarter after completing 7-of-12 attempts for 33 yards and one interception, adding another 68 rushing yards on seven carries - making him the game’s leading rusher at the time of injury. Griffin was woefully overmatched as a passer and flatly did not see Joe Haden on his interception. However, as a runner, Griffin momentarily found the fountain of youth before being slowed down by a hamstring strain in the first half. The Steelers defense displayed concerning weaknesses against the misdirection of the Ravens running attack considering the personnel carrying them out. Griffin was replaced by Trace McSorley.

  • BAL Quarterback #8
Lamar Jackson (COVID-19) has a chance to come off the reserve/COVID list in time to play Week 13’s game against Dallas.
Jackson, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, will miss this week’s game -- now slated for Tuesday night -- against Pittsburgh. Baltimore’s Week 13 game against the Cowboys being bumped to Monday, December 7 will give Jackson a shot to suit up for a great late-season matchup. Otherwise, Robert Griffin III is looking at at least two starts for the Ravens.
