Giants released Ricky Seals-Jones with an injury settlement.
Seals-Jones spent most of his Giants career sidelined by a toe injury before landing on injured reserve last week. This settlement will allow him to sign with a new team once he is healthy, but when that will be remains an open question.

Giants placed TE Ricky Seals-Jones (toe) on injured reserve.
The designation ends his season with the Giants, though he could be released in an injury settlement and sign elsewhere. Signed to be the bar for Daniel Bellinger to climb over, Seals-Jones barely even took part in most of OTAs and training camp with the toe issue. He’ll hang around the league, but he’s probably looking at backup roles going forward.

  • Tight End #48
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan believes TE Ricky Seals-Jones should be the Giants starter when healthy.
Seals-Jones, who signed with New York after one season in Washington, has missed nearly all of training camp with an undisclosed injury. Daniel Bellinger has worked as the team’s starting tight end for much of camp and in preseason games. He’s been mostly disastrous, recently dropping a pass from Daniel Jones that resulted in an interception against the Bengals. Seals-Jones could have some fantasy relevance in 2022 simply because the Giants have the worst tight end grouping in the NFL.

  • Tight End #48
Giants HC Brian Daboll said Ricky Seals-Jones (undisclosed) will miss his fourth-straight practice on Tuesday.
The Giants signed Seals-Jones to a one-year contract this offseason after losing Evan Engram to the Jaguars in free agency. Despite signing with the team in March, Seals-Jones is a potential cut candidate with rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger already working with the first team and veteran Jordan Akins also on the roster. Seals-Jones is off the fantasy radar, but Bellinger remains an interesting stash in dynasty leagues.

Giants signed TE Ricky Seals-Jones, formerly of the Commanders, to an undisclosed contract.
“The opportunity to play a big role gets him to jump from Washington to New York,” Giants beat Jordan Raanan notes. With Kyle Rudolph released and Evan Engram signing with Jacksonville, the Giants tight end depth chart currently has Jake Hausmann, Chris Myarick, and Rysen John on it. Put in that light, Seals-Jones sure seems like an upgrade. Seals-Jones had a brush with fantasy relevance last year with 41 or more yards in Weeks 5-7 with many Football Team receivers hurt or sidelined. He’ll likely be in the same sort of fantasy situation this year.

Washington placed Ricky Seals-Jones (concussion) on injured reserve.
Already declared out for Week 18, Seals-Jones will finish the season on IR following a scary Week 17 concussion he suffered when crashing into a camera operator on the sideline. RSJ has down for several minutes before Washington trainers helped him to the locker room. Seals-Jones is an unrestricted free agent after the season and should see some interest from tight end-needy teams. He was productive as Washington’s TE1 following Logan Thomas’ hamstring injury, catching 15 passes in a three game stretch in October.

Ricky Seals-Jones (concussion) is out for Week 18.
Seals-Jones suffered a brain injury in a frightening collision with a camera person during Washington’s Week 17 loss to the Eagles. John Bates will take over as the team’s primary pass-catching tight end against a New York defense giving up the ninth most tight end receptions. Now scheduled to miss the season finale, Seals-Jones finishes his first season in Washington with 30 catches for 271 yards and two scores. Most of that damage was done during a five-game stretch that saw RSJ start in place of an injured Logan Thomas before Seals-Jones went down with an injury of his own in Week 10. Turning 27 in March, Seals-Jones will head back to free agency this spring.

Ricky Seals-Jones (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.
Seals-Jones collided with a cameraman in Week 17 and had to be carted from the field on a stretcher. He escaped the dangerous ordeal with only a concussion but there’s no reason for him to be rushed back. Washington is out of the playoff race and Ron Rivera has already talked about using Week 18 to scout some younger players. John Bates will start at tight end.

Ricky Seals-Jones suffered a concussion in Week 17 against the Eagles.
Seals-Jones collided with a cameraman while running out of bounds and had to be carted from the game on a stretcher. He was ruled out with a neck injury but Washington coach Ron Rivera said he only suffered a concussion on the play. RSJ is unlikely to suit up in Week 18 but it’s good to see him escape without a more serious injury. John Bates will start for Washington’s season finale.

Ricky Seals-Jones (neck) was carted from Washington’s Week 17 game against the Eagles.
RSJ collided with a cameraman while running out of bounds and was unable to get up. He was then carted from the game and immediately ruled out. It was a scary sight as both he and the cameraman were down for an extended period of time. John Bates is the next man up at tight end.
