Ricardo Sánchez has re-signed with the Hanwha Eagles in the Korea Baseball Organization.
The 26-year-old left-hander’s only big league experience came in three outings with the Cardinals during the truncated 2020 season. He made the move to the KBO in 2023 and posted a 3.79 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 99/28 K/BB ratio over 126 innings in his 24 starts. Perhaps he may return stateside if he has another solid showing in 2024.

Ricardo Sánchez has signed with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Sánchez signed a minor league contract back in February with the White Sox, but has found a new opportunity overseas in Korea. The 26-year-old southpaw made a trio of relief appearances for the Cardinals during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and spent last year at the Triple-A level between the Phillies and Tigers, finishing with an underwhelming 4.95 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 103/41 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings (26 starts).

    Tigers released LHP Ricardo Sánchez.
Sánchez signed a minor league contract with the Phillies last April shortly after being released by the Cardinals and was eventually traded to the Tigers in mid-August. The 25-year-old southpaw last appeared in the majors with the Cardinals during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. He posted a pedestrian 4.95 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 103/41 K/BB ratio across 116 1/3 innings (26 starts) this past season at the Triple-A level.

The 25-year-old left-hander logged 86 1/3 innings in Triple-A this season, posting a 4.90 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 80 strikeouts. He’ll head to Triple-A Toledo for now as organizational depth for Detroit.

Phillies signed LHP Ricardo Sánchez to a minor league contract.
Sánchez was released by the Cardinals last week and didn’t have to wait very long to find a new opportunity. The 24-year-old lefty will provide the Phillies, who have been hit hard by injuries this spring, with some extra organizational relief depth heading into the regular season.

Cardinals sent LHP Ricardo Sanchez outright to Triple-A Memphis.
After it was revealed a few days ago that the southpaw had Tommy John surgery in mid-September, this would be classified as adding insult to injury. The 23-year-old owned a 6.75 ERA and 1.88 WHIP in 5 1/3 innings for the Cardinals before his injury.

Ricardo Sanchez underwent Tommy John surgery earlier this month.
Sanchez hurt his elbow back in late August and evidently had Tommy John surgery in mid-September. He’ll be sidelined until 2022 and might be designated for assignment as the Cardinals look to clear roster space.
