Caldwell

We hate to be too optimistic about the Chargers, but Drew Brees is set up for a nice afternoon versus New York. Caldwell is worth consideration in fantasy leagues if he has another strong game.

Dwight hasn’t practiced this week because of an injured hammy. Caldwell has no fantasy value until he proves otherwise.

The full extent of the injury will not be known till later in the week.

Is that a medical term? The Chargers aren’t eager to give detailed info on Caldwell, but the fear is that this injury could be more serious than they are letting on. Wait for more info, but Caldwell is a candidate to be dropped in most leagues.

He was on crutches after the game. The Chargers will update his status today. It sounds strange, but losing Caldwell would be a big blow to the Chargers offense.

He caught three passes for 61 yards in San Diego’s season opener. Right now, the muddled San Diego depth chart probably looks like Kevin Dyson, Eric Parker, Tim Dwight, and Caldwell, in that order.

Caldwell said that his hamstring was 100%. Caldwell is likely to overtake Eric Parker on the depth chart in the coming days.

Eric Parker and Keenan McCardell, currently the starters, won’t play much. But the Chargers want to evaluate Caldwell’s health and rookie Vincent Jackson’s progress.

Tom Brady liked what he saw from the former Chargers’ castoff in minicamp season and Caldwell has continued to impress in training camp while lining up with the 1s.

“Reche has done a really nice job; he’s been very impressive to me,” Brady said. “He’s a tough guy, he’s fast, has good hands.” Caldwell will battle rookie Chad Jackson to start this season.
