Espinal will earn $650,000 this season in Korea. The 31-year-old righty made a pair of relief appearances for the Reds this past season and spent the majority of the year at the Triple-A level between a trio of organizations. He’ll aim to bolster his long-term value overseas this season.

Espinal cleared waivers and heads back to Triple-A as a 31-year-old depth arm. He could compete for a spot on the Reds’ roster in Arizona.

Espinal was summoned back to the majors earlier this week to give the Reds some extra long relief depth. He’s been shipped back to Triple-A Louisville to make room for dynamic right-hander Hunter Greene to return from the injured list ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals.

A short stint in Triple-A For Espinal. The right-hander was optioned to Triple-A by the Reds on Wednesday, but he can come back up earlier than the normal guidelines with Justin Dunn being placed on the injured list.

Espinal allowed one earned run over 2 1/3 innings of relief on Tuesday night against the Pirates and took the loss. It was just the second career major league appearance for the 30-year-old Dominican right-hander.

Espinal was the third reliever into the game in a bullpen start for the Reds and had a scoreless fifth and sixth before being pulled following a one-out double in the seventh. Ian Gibaut let that inherited runner score for the only tally of the game. Espinal might get a start or two down the stretch for the Reds, but he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Espinal appears likely to take the ball for one of the games during Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Pirates. The 30-year-old journeyman right-hander made one relief appearance last year for the Red Sox and has bounced around between several organizations this season at the Triple-A level. He’s not a recommended option for fantasy managers.

Espinal was released by the Cubs last week and quickly latched on with the Reds as extra starting pitching depth. The 30-year-old righty made one relief appearance last year for the Red Sox. Espinal was acquired from the Giants last month in exchange for shortstop Dixon Machado and wound up making a pair of calamitous relief appearances for Triple-A Iowa before being cut loose. The 30-year-old righty finally made his big-league debut for the Red Sox last year.

The Giants needed to add emergency depth in the infield, so they plucked Machado away from the Cubs in exchange for Espinal. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed two runs over two innings in his lone appearance with the big league club this season. At Triple-A Sacramento, he posted a 5.29 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 102/38 K/BB ratio over 83 1/3 innings in 19 appearances (18 starts). He’ll add pitching depth for the Cubs.
