White Sox released INF Ramon Torres.
Torres was in White Sox camp this spring on a minor league deal, but he will not be part of the team’s spring training 2.0 plans in Chicago. The 27-year-old is a career .225/.269/.265 hitter in 42 major league games.

White Sox re-signed INF Ramon Torres to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old spent the 2019 season in the White Sox’ organization where he hit .250/.277/.406 with four homers and 25 RBI in 79 games between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte. He’ll continue to function as minor league infield depth.

Ramon Torres has elected free agency.
Torres, 25, hit just .225/.269/.265 during his brief time in the majors with the Royals over the last two seasons. He’ll look to catch on as utility infielder depth somewhere.

Royals recalled INF Ramon Torres from Triple-A Omaha.
Torres was batting .327/.349/.445 with five home runs, 34 RBI, eight stolen bases, and 28 runs scored in 53 games this season at the Triple-A level, but the 24-year-old middle infielder probably won’t play enough to carry consistent fantasy value. Unless manager Ned Yost is ready to cut back on his undying love for Alcides Escobar.

Whit Merrifield is out of the Royals’ starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Tigers.
Ramon Torres will start at second base and bat leadoff versus Detroit right-hander Michael Fulmer. It looks to be a routine day of rest for Merrifield, who’s slashing .279/.320/.437 with six home runs and eight stolen bases in 59 games this season for Kansas City.

Ramon Torres went 2-for-4 as the Royals’ leadoff man Thursday against the Tigers.
Torres played more shortstop than second base in Double-A, but since his callup June 7, all six of his starts for the Royals have come at second. Maybe it’d be worth giving him the occasional start over Alcides Escobar, given that Escobar has been one of the game’s worst players this year.

Royals recalled INF Ramon Torres from Triple-A Omaha.
Torres has hit .242/.299/.290 in 23 games with the Royals this season. He’ll provide some infield depth for the final month.

Mike Moustakas started Thursday’s game versus the Twins in the designated hitter spot after aggravating his right knee injury Wednesday.
Moustakas lobbied to play third base but was overruled, but the good news, of course, is that he was in the lineup at all. He could see additional starts in the DH spot as the Royals attempt to manage a knee injury that “Moose” first suffered two weeks ago. Ramon Torres started at third base Thursday and might continue to see action there with Cheslor Cuthbert dealing with gall bladder problems.

Mike Moustakas (knee) is not in the Royals’ lineup Friday.
Moustakas re-injured his right knee on Wednesday. He started Thursday’s game in the designated hitter spot, but he’ll get some rest for this one and could sit out Saturday, as well. Ramon Torres is at the hot corner.

Ramon Torres went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday’s win over the Twins.
He delivered an RBI double to tie the game in the sixth inning. The rookie has hit well since being called to the majors in early June. He is batting .379/.438/.483 and has yet to homer in 32 plate appearances.
