The Baltimore Sun suspects Bryant McKinnie’s roster spot is not safe after the left tackle was kept out of this week’s minicamp to concentrate on conditioning.
Coach John Harbaugh is handling the McKinnie situation “in-house,” but said the oft-overweight veteran has “done a good job” and “worked hard” this offseason. The Sun’s Mike Preston does concede that Jah Reid (“slow and stiff”) and Ramon Harewood (“plays too high”) aren’t realistic options to join the starting lineup. McKinnie should be in no real danger of being released.
  • FA Guard #63
The Ravens have installed Bobbie Williams as their starting left guard.
The Ravens wanted Williams to start from the get-go after they signed him in early June, but he experienced knee swelling and was limited to special teams in the first five games. On Sunday against the Cowboys, Williams will replace Ramon Harewood between left tackle Michael Oher and center Matt Birk.
  • FA Tackle #69
Ramon Harewood will start at left guard for the Ravens on Monday night.
It was previously thought that Bobbie Williams would play at the position, but Baltimore is going with the inexperienced Harewood. He has never played a regular season down due to injuries in his first two seasons. Michael Oher will play left tackle and Kelechi Osemele will line up at right tackle with Bryant McKinnie on the bench. Jah Reid is inactive with a calf injury.
  • FA Tackle #69
    Ravens re-signed T/G Ramon Harewood to a one-year contract.
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome has long been weak to Harewood’s potential as an athletic and versatile 6-foot-6, 340-pounder. Harewood was exposed in pass pro during five starts at left guard last year. He’ll vie for a roster spot in camp.
  • FA Tackle #69
Sixth-round OT Ramon Harewood is expected to be sidelined 3-4 weeks after suffering tissue damage in his right knee during Ravens minicamp.
Harewood had to be carted off the field, so he’s fortunate that no ligaments were damaged. A massive (6'7/358) small-school prospect out of Morehouse, Harewood has the size and athleticism to develop as a starting caliber bookend. The first NFL player from Barbados could be ticketed for the practice squad in year one.
  • FA Tackle #69
Free agent G/T Ramon Harewood visited the Panthers on Thursday.
Carolina just lost starting RG Garry Williams to a season-ending knee injury. The Panthers lack quality depth, and Harewood has starting experience.
  • FA Tackle #69
Free agent G/T Ramon Harewood worked out for the Giants on Tuesday.
Harewood (6-foot-6, 330) started five games for the Ravens last season. He didn’t survive final cuts in Baltimore, getting beat out by Jah Reid for backup duties. The Giants are likely just updating their emergency list.
  • FA Tackle #69
The Broncos worked out free agent G/T Ramon Harewood on Tuesday, and reportedly plan to sign him.
A 2010 sixth-rounder, Harewood has just six career appearances, all of which came for the Ravens in 2012. Five of those appearances were starts. Harewood will be an extra body for Denver’s offensive line in Super Bowl XLVIII.
  • FA Tackle #69
Broncos signed G/T Ramon Harewood, LB Jamar Chaney, LB Jerrell Harris, TE Jameson Konz, DB Charles Mitchell, TE Cameron Morrah, DB Jerome Murphy, and RB Jerodis Williams to reserve/future contracts.
All eight worked out for the Broncos on Tuesday. None are eligible for Denver’s Super Bowl roster but will compete for roster spots this summer. Harewood made five starts for the Ravens last season. Murphy was the 65th pick of the 2010 draft by the Rams. Morrah caught 16 passes for Seattle from 2009-2011.
  • FA Tackle #69
Free agent G/T Ramon Harewood is participating in Dolphins minicamp on a tryout basis.
Harewood, 27, was cut by the Broncos last month. He hasn’t appeared in a game since 2012 with the Super Bowl champion Ravens. Harewood can play either guard spot and right tackle. He’s appears to be on his last legs in the NFL.
