STAMFORD, Conn. – September 29, 2016 – NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2016-17 Aviva Premiership Rugby campaign continues this weekend with a pair of matchups on NBCSN, beginning on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, when Gloucester Rugby host Bath Rugby in their bitter West Country Derby rivalry. NBCSN’s coverage continues on Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET, when Worcester Warriors host Newcastle Falcons.
In addition to NBCSN’s pair of matches, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide exclusive live streaming coverage of Northampton Saints v. Exeter Chiefs tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports’ Leigh Diffey will anchor studio coverage for both NBCSN matches this weekend. He will be joined by analyst and former Premiership Rugby player Alex Corbisiero, who played seven combined seasons for London Irish and Northampton Saints.
Bath (3-0-1) currently sit in third place in the Premiership, following their first loss of the season to Leicester last weekend by a score of 34-14. Bath have dominated Gloucester (1-1-2) over the last few seasons, boasting a 6-0-1 record against their rival in their last seven matches. However, seven of the last nine matches between Bath and Gloucester have been decided by seven points or less.
Worcester Warriors (0-2-2) are in search of their first win of the season, and are winless in their last eight Premiership Rugby matches. Worcester will hope to snap that streak against Newcastle Falcons (2-0-2), which are 2-1-21 in their last 24 away matches, despite a road win last weekend at Gloucester.
Each weekend, NBC Sports Group will present the most compelling Premiership Rugby matches on the schedule, often preceding or following live coverage of Premier League soccer. The Premiership Rugby season will culminate with live coverage of the league Final on Saturday, May 27 on NBCSN.
