NFL Sundays Begin and End on Peacock with Exclusive Coverage Featuring Fantasy Football Pregame with Matthew Berry at 11 a.m. ET – Special On-Site Edition This Week at an Applebee’s in Houston – and Peacock Sunday Night Football Final Immediately After Each SNF Game
STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 6, 2024 – Three-time Pro Bowler Jared Goff and the NFC-leading Detroit Lions (7-1) visit 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud and the AFC South-leading Houston Texans (6-3) in the Week 10 edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with Football Night in America, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. ET from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, on NBC, Peacock and Universo.
The Lions, off to their best start since 1956, beat the Green Bay Packers, 24-14, at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Goff completed 18 of 22 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown and now has an 82.8% completion percentage in the past six games, surpassing Peyton Manning (in 2008 season) for the highest completion percentage in a six-game span in NFL history. Goff’s 140.1 passer rating in that stretch surpassed Brock Purdy (in 2023 season) for the highest passer rating in a six-game span within a season in NFL history. The running back duo of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 172 yards from scrimmage in the road win while All-Pro wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had 56 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gibbs and Montgomery each have seven rush touchdowns this season, tied for the fourth-most in the NFL.
Joining the Lions on Sunday is three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Za’Darius Smith, who was traded from Cleveland to Detroit on Tuesday. Smith has five sacks on the season – second-most on the Browns behind Myles Garrett.
The Texans fell to the New York Jets, 21-13, at MetLife Stadium last Thursday. Stroud threw for 191 yards and added 59 yards on the ground. Running back Joe Mixon registered his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season, running for 106 yards and a score. In his first season in Houston, Mixon ranks third in the NFL in rushing yards per game (101.5) and is one of only three running backs (Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley) to average more than 100 rushing yards per game this season.
Detroit and Houston will meet for only the sixth time in on Sunday, with the Texans leading 4-1 in the all-time series. The teams’ combined winning percentage this season (.765) is the best for an SNF interconference matchup this late in the season in eight years, since Russell Wilson and the 5-2-1 Seahawks defeated Tom Brady and the 7-1 New England Patriots, 31-24, in a Super Bowl XLIX rematch in Week 10 of the 2016 season.
Calling Lions-Texans is Mike Tirico (play-by-play); 17-time Emmy Award winner Cris Collinsworth (analyst); and Melissa Stark (sideline reporter). Three-time Super Bowl referee Terry McAulay is the Sunday Night Football rules analyst.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING:
Flexible scheduling will be used in Weeks 11-18. Additionally, in Weeks 5-10, flexible scheduling may be used in no more than two weeks. In Weeks 5-17, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday Night Football on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game would be moved to an afternoon start time.
For Week 18, two Saturday games and the Sunday night game will be announced no later than six days prior to January 5. The schedule does not list Saturday games or a Sunday night game in Week 18, but games with playoff implications will be moved to those time slots. Flexible scheduling ensures quality matchups in all Sunday time slots in those weeks and gives “surprise” teams a chance to play their way into primetime.
