STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 31, 2024 – Alex Karaban and the No. 11 UConn Huskies host the Providence Friars this Sunday, Jan. 5 at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock from Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn., headlining this week’s college basketball coverage across NBC, USA Network, and Peacock. Also on Sunday, the No. 9 Oregon Ducks host the Maryland Terrapins at 4 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock.
The Huskies defeated the Butler Bulldogs, 78-74, on Dec. 21 to improve to 10-3, as Karaban scored 21 points. The Friars look to bounce back after falling to St. John’s, 72-70, on Dec. 20. Providence guard Bensley Joseph scored 17 points and recorded eight rebounds in the matchup. Noah Eagle (play-by-play), Donny Marshall (analyst), and Britney Eurton (sideline reporter) will call the game live from Gampel Pavilion.
The No. 9 Oregon Ducks defeated Weber State, 89-49, on Sunday to move to 13-1 on the season. Four of Oregon’s five starters scoring at least 10 points, with guard Jackson Shelstad recording a game-high 16 points in the win. Maryland defeated UMES, 81-66, on Saturday behind forward Julian Reese’s 23 points and 11 rebounds. Terry Gannon (play-by-play) and Eldridge Recasner (analyst) will call the game live from Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.
This week’s men’s basketball coverage begins today with Seton Hall visiting Xavier at 2 p.m. ET followed by St. John’s-Creighton tipping off at 4 p.m. ET, both exclusively on Peacock. Coverage continues Thursday with a Peacock-exclusive Big Ten Men’s Basketball doubleheader featuring Penn State hosting Northwestern (7 p.m. ET) and Rutgers visiting Indiana (8:30 p.m. ET).
Penn State enters Thursday’s game with a 12-2 record after defeating Penn, 86-66, on Sunday behind Ace Baldwin Jr.’s 23-point, 10-assist double-double. Northwestern defeated Northeastern, 85-60, on Sunday to improve to 10-3 on the season as guard Brooks Barnhizer recorded 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in the win.
On Saturday, the Dayton Flyers visit the George Washington Revolutionaries (Noon ET on USA Network) and the Rhode Island Rams host the George Mason Patriots (2 p.m. ET on USA Network) in an A-10 men’s basketball doubleheader.
