One Month to Kickoff! Opening Weekend of 2022-23 Premier League Season is August 5-7 on NBC, Peacock and USA Network
STAMFORD, Conn. – July 6, 2022 – Peter Drury, a popular and critically acclaimed Premier League match caller since its inception (1992), has joined NBC Sports as its lead Premier League play-by-play commentator, it was announced today.
For the past 18 years, Drury has handled play-by-play for the Premier League’s world feed, with many of the matches he has called appearing on the platforms of NBCUniversal.
“Peter has been the soundtrack for millions of Premier League viewers around the world for many years, calling some of the league’s most memorable moments” said Pierre Moossa, coordinating producer of NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage. “We are excited that he will now be the narrator of the Premier League for future generations of American supporters.”
“I am thrilled to be joining an NBC Sports team which has established a terrific reputation within the Premier League broadcasting world,” Drury said. “I’ve been so fortunate to work on this fantastic competition since it began. I hope I can play my part in articulating, for an ever-growing American audience, the excitement of its week-by-week narrative.”
A two-time winner (2021 and 2019) of the Football Supporters’ Association Commentator of the Year and the recipient of the Sports’ Journalists’ Association Commentator of the Year honor in 2020, Drury previously called Premier League matches and other properties for ITV (1998-2012) and handled Premier League and additional sports as a commentator and presenter for BBC Radio (1990-98). He has also called Champions League, Europa League., FA Cup, Serie A and Bundesliga soccer competition for Amazon Prime Video, BT Sport and CBS Sports.
This fall, Drury will call World Cup matches for the seventh consecutive cycle, handling the world feed for Host Broadcast Services.
This summer, NBC Sports begins its 10th season as exclusive U.S. media home of the Premier League, and will present matches, studio programming and additional coverage across NBC, Peacock, and USA Network. The 2022-23 season kicks off August 5-7.
