STAMFORD, Conn. – June 3, 2020 – NBC Sports’ Super Bowl Week in America -- reliving seven of the most memorable NBC Super Bowls over seven days -- continues tonight at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN with Super Bowl XLIII, featuring the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
In the final game of John Madden’s historic broadcasting career, the Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Arizona Cardinals, 27-23, on February 1, 2009 to become the first team to win six Super Bowls. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger completes a game-winning six-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes -- who was named Super Bowl XLIII MVP and will speak with NBC Sports’ Liam McHugh throughout tonight’s broadcast -- with 35 seconds remaining to win the game. As the first half expires, Steelers linebacker James Harrison completes the longest play in Super Bowl history at the time, returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown.
Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner passed for 377 yards and three touchdowns, while wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald had 127 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.
NBC’s broadcast team of Al Michaels, Madden, Andrea Kremer and Alex Flanagan called the game from Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

THURSDAY, JUNE 4 – SUPER BOWL XXXII
Thursday’s coverage on NBCSN features Denver’s first Super Bowl victory as the Broncos defeat the Green Bay Packers, 31-24, after four previous Super Bowl losses. Terrell Davis rushes for 157 yards and scores a Super Bowl-record three rushing touchdowns to garner MVP honors in his hometown at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium on January 25, 1998. At the postgame Lombardi Trophy presentation, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen dedicates the win to quarterback John Elway: “This one’s for John.”

FRIDAY, JUNE 5 – SUPER BOWL XXIII
On Friday, NBCSN presents Super Bowl XXIII from Miami’s Joe Robbie Stadium between the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals on January 22, 1989. In what is regarded as one of the best Super Bowls ever played, Joe Montana caps an 11-play, 92-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to John Taylor with 34 seconds remaining, giving the San Francisco 49ers a 20-16 win and sending head coach Bill Walsh into retirement on top. Super Bowl XXIII is also the final NFL game for NBC Sports SNF analyst Cris Collinsworth, who caught three passes for 40 yards for the Bengals.

NBC Sports presents two classic Super Bowls on Sunday, as Super Bowl XX between the Chicago Bears and New England Patriots airs at 3 p.m. ET on NBC and Super Bowl III between the New York Jets and Baltimore Colts airs at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
In Super Bowl XX from the Louisiana Superdome, the Bears, led by head coach Mike Ditka and their vaunted defense, defeat the Patriots, 46-10, on January 26, 1986. Defensive end Richard Dent is named MVP as the game reaches more than 127 million viewers, replacing the final episode of M*A*S*H* as the most-viewed television program (total reach) in history at the time.
