The Philadelphia Inquirer expects the Eagles to keep just one of DEs Darryl Tapp and Phillip Hunt.
Beat writer Jeff McLane believes Hunt’s untapped potential might give him an edge over Tapp, but that the Eagles may keep Tapp as veteran insurance on young ends like Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry. The X-factor could be salary. Hunt is due $465,000, while Tapp is currently scheduled for an odious $2.575 million.

Eagles DE Juqua Parker (ankle) is not participating in practice Saturday.
Parker hasn’t been active since sustaining a high-ankle sprain in Week 2, which can take as long as two months to return from. Darryl Tapp and Phillip Hunt will continue to rotate in his place.

The Sideline View’s Adam Caplan is issuing a 2012 breakout alert for Eagles second-year DE Phillip Hunt.
Caplan has an insider’s read on the Eagles, and he suggests Hunt could push for 8-10 sacks as the most explosive and underrated pass rusher among Philly’s six defensive ends. Hunt won’t be an every-down player, but he should have a big role in nickel and dime packages. Hunt had two sacks on few snaps last year.
  • FA Linebacker #58
Eagles RE Trent Cole was carted off the field during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game due to a calf injury.
He was spotted on crutches afterwards. Cole, LE Jason Babin, and DT Cullen Jenkins have combined for a whopping 12 sacks on the year (Babin notched three today). Depth could be an issue behind Cole, as Darryl Tapp (torn pectoral muscle) was unable to go this week and Jaqua Parker (high ankle sprain) is out indefinitely. Next man up Phillip Hunt barely made the squad.

    Eagles waived/injured OLB Phillip Hunt.
The reserve linebacker/special teamer will revert to injured reserve if/when he clears waivers. Hunt has 16 tackles and three sacks across 22 career games.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Eagles OLB Phillip Hunt underwent surgery for a partially torn left ACL on Thursday and is done for the season.
Hunt is the fourth Eagle to tear his ACL this summer. The former CFL standout has three career sacks across 16 games the past two seasons. Hunt was competing for a backup spot, and he’ll revert to injured reserve shortly.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
    Colts signed OLB Phillip Hunt.
28-year-old Hunt missed 2013 on I.R. with the Eagles. The former CFL standout has three sacks in 22 career games. With Robert Mathis suspended the first four games, Hunt will compete for a role as a situational pass rusher.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
Saints signed OLB Phillip Hunt and WR R.J. Harris to reserve/future contracts.
A former CFL standout, Hunt appeared in two games with Detroit before finishing the season on the Saints’ practice squad. Harris is a 2015 UDFA.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #97
    Saints signed OLB Phillip Hunt.
Hunt made his name by leading the CFL in sacks in 2010, but he has just four sacks in 24 career games in the NFL. One of those takedowns came in Week 1 of this season with the Lions, but Hunt was released the next week. He should be nothing but a depth signing even on New Orleans’ struggling defense.

    Lions signed DE/OLB Phillip Hunt.
Hunt made a name for himself in Canada by leading the CFL in sacks in 2010. That led to a two-year stint with the Eagles and an invite to Colts’ training camp last offseason. Even if he makes the Lions’ final roster, Hunt probably won’t see much playing time next season.
