The Phillies selected another outfielder with their third-round pick Monday afternoon, drafting left-handed hitter Gabriel Rincones Jr. out of Florida Atlantic University.
The Phils had no second-round pick so 93rd overall was their second choice in the 2022 draft. On Sunday night, they took high school outfielder Justin Crawford with the 17th pick.
Rincones, 21, hit .346 this season for FAU, leading the team with 19 homers and 69 RBI. He was named Conference USA Newcomer of the Year.

Rincones (6-4/225) was drafted in the 19th round by the Padres last summer after posting a school-record 36-game hit streak for St. Petersburg, a junior college program. Rather than sign, he went to Florida Atlantic and significantly boosted his draft stock.
There are concerns about Rincones' speed and arm strength -- he projects as a left fielder or first baseman -- but the bat plays.
"Despite future raw power grades that check in at plus and even plus-plus, Rincones is a hitter first who sees the ball well and controls the zone," part of Baseball America's scouting report read. "He hits fastballs well and performed against 93-plus mph velocity, with the power to clear the fence to all fields."
In the fourth round (122nd overall), the Phillies drafted right-handed pitcher Alex McFarlane out of the University of Miami.
MLB
McFarlane has a 95 mph fastball that has reached 99 and has shown signs of an above-average slider.
Per Baseball America: "Now listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, McFarlane has shown impressive natural arm talent and ‘wow’ stuff, but his performance has never quite matched what scouts have seen coming out of his hand."
The Phillies have the 16th pick in each remaining Round from 5 through 20. Rounds 11-20 take place Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
