ATLANTA — The Eagles slid running back Raheem Mostert through waivers safely during final cutdown day, but he's found his way onto a 53-man roster. The Miami Dolphins on Monday signed Mostert away from the Eagles' practice squad, according to his agent, Brett Tessler.
Mostert led the league in yards from scrimmage this preseason. He rushed 39 times for 157 yards (4.0 ypc) and caught 14 passes for 194 yards. He also returned kicks and figures to be a returner for Miami.
The 23-year-old rookie from Purdue lost a preseason battle for the Eagles' fourth RB job to Kenjon Barner, who returned two punts for touchdowns this summer to cement his chances of cracking the 53. Barner was inactive for the Eagles' season-opener Monday night in Atlanta.
The Eagles will likely fill the newly created practice squad vacancy this week.
