The Sixers on Saturday agreed with guard JJ Redick on a one-year, $23 million deal, a source confirmed to CSNPhilly.com's Jessica Camerato.
The 33-year-old guard reportedly met with the Sixers' brass when free agency began at midnight. The deal was first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Timberwolves and Nets were also pursuing Redick, per the report.
The Sixers were looking to add a veteran presence and also shooters to complement the team's core. Redick provides both (see story). The 11-year veteran shot 42.9 percent from three last season, a year after leading the league with a 47.5 percent mark. Overall in 2016-17, Redick averaged 15.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.2 minutes over 78 games (all as a starter).
Redick has been to the playoffs every year in the league. He's also been durable, missing just 15 games over the last three seasons.
For his career, Redick has shot 41.5 percent from three on 4.4 attempts a game. Originally drafted 11th overall by Orlando, the Duke product has spent the last four years of his career with the Clippers. He's averaged 11.9 points a contest during his time with the Magic, Bucks and Clippers.
