On Flyers Postgame Live, Scott Hartnell said he believes just about every player on the roster will be available at the NHL trade deadline.

With a defenseman playing at left winger, the Flyers will try to avoid matching the longest winless streak in franchise history.

Nick Seeler will jump in at forward Monday when the Flyers (13-20-8) welcome the Stars (20-16-2).

Let's get into the essentials for the game:

  • When: 7 p.m. ET with The Warm Up at 6 p.m. ET and Flyers Pregame Live at 6:15 p.m. ET
  • Where: Wells Fargo Center
  • Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia
  • Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app

• Because of injuries and the schedule, the Flyers are asking the 28-year-old Seeler, a natural defenseman, to play left winger on their fourth line.

The club called up forwards Linus Sandin and Connor Bunnaman to its taxi squad. Both players were at morning skate, but both played Saturday and Sunday at AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.

Monday night's game is the first of a back-to-back set for the Flyers.

Seeler last played on Jan. 15 and has appeared in only three games this month. The Flyers clearly want a fresh player to give them max energy and effort in closely-monitored minutes, especially if they need Sandin and/or Bunnaman on Tuesday when they visit the Islanders (7:30 p.m. ET/NBCSP).

Regardless, the Flyers are obviously in dire straits right now when they're asking a defenseman to play forward.

"Sandin and Bunnaman both played back-to-back games, that would be three in three today and potentially four in four tomorrow," Flyers interim head coach Mike Yeo said Monday. "We've got Nick Seeler who's going to go up and play left wing. He has the ability to take some shifts on D, but he had a nice audition at practice there yesterday. He's revved up, should bring some physicality and some energy into the game."

Has Seeler ever played winger?

"It's something that he has done in college," Yeo said with a chuckle. "But obviously it gives us some flexibility if we want to play seven D at some point in the game, it brings some energy, it should bring some life into our lineup, bring some physicality. Excited to see what he can do there."

The Flyers have lost 11 straight games (0-8-3), putting them on the brink of tying the franchise's worst-ever skid. The longest winless streak in Flyers history is 12 games. That came during 1998-99, when the team recorded eight losses and four ties in succession.

The 2021-22 club has had injuries pile up with the losses. The Flyers are currently without Joel Farabee (upper body), Kevin Hayes (abdominal)Sean Couturier (upper body)Ryan Ellis (lower body)Derick Brassard (hip)Nate Thompson (shoulder)Patrick Brown (MCL sprain) and Wade Allison (MCL sprain).

Zack MacEwen was questionable heading into Monday after missing Sunday's practice but is good to go.

"Normalcy is not something that we have at hand right now with our group," Yeo said. "We have to make sure that we're putting healthy people in, people that are fresh, fresh bodies."

• Keith Yandle will draw even with the ultimate ironman when he takes the ice Monday night. The veteran defenseman is set to tie Doug Jarvis' NHL record of 964 games played in a row.

Yandle hasn't missed a game since March 2009.

"It's kind of the way hockey players are built, you try to play through as much pain as you can," Yandle said Sunday. "Especially during the season, I don't think there are many guys that feel 100 percent. There's been some times obviously that I've not felt great and it was tough sledding, but you just try to battle through it and help out your team."

• Former Michael Raffl is back in Philadelphia with the Stars. However, he won't play because of a lower-body injury.

The 33-year-old forward played 504 games in a Flyers uniform before being dealt to the Capitals at last season's trade deadline. He signed with Dallas in the offseason.
