• Connor Bunnaman was called up from AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley this morning while Max Willman was loaned back to the Phantoms.
Bunnaman will make his season debut. Derick Brassard missed the Flyers' 2-1 OT loss Wednesday to the Panthers because of a lower-body injury he suffered in the first period of Tuesday's game.
NHL
"He's got a lower-body strain," Vigneault said to reporters Friday in his pregame media availability. "We're hoping that it's going to be within a week-to-10-day situation here; no longer than that, that's what we're keeping our fingers crossed for."
With injuries to Brassard, Kevin Hayes (abdominal) and Patrick Brown (thumb), the Flyers don't have an extra forward. The club called up Morgan Frost on Wednesday.
Bunnaman, 23, is a center who can play some winger. He has good size and the Flyers have trusted him in their bottom six. Bunnaman played 39 games over the past two seasons and four games in the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
• The Flyers are 0-2-2 in their last four games. They've lost twice to the two-time defending champion Lightning, while the other two defeats came to the 14-2-3 Panthers and 10-6-0 Bruins.
The Flyers have never lost five straight games in the Vigneault era.
They'll try to avoid that against Carolina, which just lost consecutive games for the first time this season. The Hurricanes are yielding the NHL's second-fewest goals per game at 2.00.
The Flyers are starving for offense. Since Oct. 30, they've scored 1.58 goals per game, the fewest in the NHL over that span. They've gone 4-5-3 during that stretch.
