Eagles get great injury news about Brandon Brooks ahead of season opener

Less than eight months after tearing his Achilles tendon in the playoff game against the Saints, Eagles right guard Brandon Brooks is expected to play in Week 1.

Things have been trending this way, but it doesn’t make it any less remarkable.

Brooks is among a group of Eagles who were full participants in Friday’s practice and the Eagles didn’t list any players as questionable.

Also included on that list: Derek Barnett (shoulder), Alshon Jeffery (biceps) and Rudy Ford (Achilles). That means the Eagles are going to be near full force as they start their 2019 season with high expectations. Fletcher Cox (foot), Ronald Darby (ACL) and Rodney McLeod (ACL) will also play in Week 1.

Kamu Grugier-Hill is the only starter who won’t play against the Redskins.

The Eagles have ruled out just three players and all three were expected: Grugier-Hill (knee), Nate Sudfeld (wrist) and Jordan Mailata (back).

While Brooks’ goal throughout the offseason has been to be ready for Week 1, it doesn’t make it any less amazing. This is a 340-pound offensive lineman we’re talking about. And he tore that Achilles on Jan. 13.
