Sixers, NBA launch line of team-themed facemasks with proceeds going to charities

It's unclear when, or if, the NBA will resume the 2019-20 regular season, but fans who want to responsibly help combat the ongoing coronavirus pandemic can still show a little team spirit.

The NBA and WNBA announced a new line of team-branded facemasks on Friday, in partnership with Fanatics.

All 42 teams have multiple design options, and can be purchased in singles or three-packs, at the respective NBA and WNBA store websites.

All proceeds from facemask sales will be donated to Feeding America and Second Harvest Canada, according to the NBA.

Here's a look at the three-pack of Sixers facemasks:

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings.

Per the CDC:

CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies), especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.

CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.

Last month, Sixers partner and Fanatics founder and executive chairman Michael Rubin announced a plan to produce one million facemasks for hospital and emergency healthcare workers using a manufacturing plant in Easton, Pa.

The NBA has been on hiatus since March 11.
