Sixers Injury Update: Joel Embiid listed as questionable vs. Hornets after rolling ankle in practice

Updated Saturday, 6:13 p.m.

CAMDEN, N.J. — The last name Sixers fans wanted to see on the injury report showed up there Friday.

All-Star center Joel Embiid is listed as questionable for tomorrow night’s game against the Hornets. Embiid rolled his left ankle while stepping on the foot of Amir Johnson near the end of practice. Head coach Brett Brown said that the extent of the injury is unknown and that he’ll get more answers later in the day.

Before Saturday's game, Brown told reporters Embiid would go through a pregame workout to test his ankle that would determine his status for the game. Brown said the injury wasn't as bad as he originally expected.

Through five games, Embiid is playing at an MVP level, averaging 29.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 blocks a game.

The Sixers have listed veteran Wilson Chandler as out for Saturday night’s game after being a limited participant in practice Friday. He’s still nursing a left hamstring strain suffered during the team’s first preseason game back on Sept. 28.

There was some speculation that the 31-year-old combo forward would make his Sixers debut vs. Charlotte, but it appears he’ll have to wait for at least one more game.
