The plot thickens.
The seemingly never-ending saga of Ben Simmons’ jump shot added another interesting chapter Friday afternoon as the two-time All-Star made a corner three early in the second half in the Sixers’ first scrimmage in Disney World against the Grizzlies (see video above). Simmons missed a corner three early in the first half.
On media day, Simmons said, "If it's open, I'll take it." While he didn't stick to that, he did make the first three threes — one in the preseason, two in the regular season — of his NBA career this season.

There’s been plenty of hype surrounding the possibility of Simmons shooting more — provided by both the team and Simmons himself. Brett Brown did nothing to squelch that hype in his media sessions ahead of Friday’s scrimmage.
“I feel like his spirit, his mindset coming down here … to willingly find space and find threes,” Brown said Thursday, “that has been a paradigm shift, an attitudinal change. … [There] has to be an internal decision that he has made because I have seen just a player that is cocky and playing and when the game says you should shoot because nobody is on you, he does, and he doesn't blink and his teammates love it and so does his head coach.”
It's one scrimmage, but this has to be seen as a positive development for Simmons and the Sixers. If the 24-year-old is going to confidently let it fly — and make those shoots — the rest of the league is going to have to take notice.
