Former MLB reliever Pedro Feliciano passed away at the age of 45, reports Eduardo Perez of ESPN.
Terrible news. According to Perez, Feliciano was jet skiing with his family on Sunday before passing away in his sleep. He was diagnosed with a rare genetic heart condition in 2013, but it’s unclear if that factored into his passing. Feliciano is best known for his time with the Mets, including a run between 2006-2010 in which he posted a 3.09 ERA over 408 appearances. He’s the last player in MLB to surpass 90 appearances in a season, which he did in 2010. His incredible workload earned him the nickname “Perpetual Pedro.” Feliciano was never quite the same after that, as shoulder issues limited him to just 25 appearances for the remainder of his career, which included an ill-fated stint with the Yankees. Still, he’ll always be remembered fondly by Mets fans. Rest in peace Pedro and our thoughts to the Feliciano family.
