He’s taking the roster spot of RG Bobbie Williams, who landed on injured reserve Monday with a broken ankle. A former fifth-round pick, Hudson was briefly on the Bengals roster earlier this season, but failed to get into a game. He could see meaningful snaps if journeyman Mike McGlynn struggles in Williams’ place.

They were all on the practice squad, and will be carried on the 80-man roster this offseason. Ruffin offers some potential as a situational pass rusher, although if he was anywhere NFL ready he surely could’ve helped a Bengals team that was among the NFL’s worst at sacking quarterbacks this year.

The fifth-rounder out of Eastern Illinois is expected to land on the Bengals’ practice squad if he clears waivers.

The deal includes a $182,000 signing bonus. Hudson played right tackle at Eastern Illinois, but the Bengals project him as a right guard down the line. He’s a candidate to start the season on the practice squad with the Bengals deep up front.
