Currently in fifth place with four matches to play, the U.S. needs to finish in the Top Four out of six teams to advance to the quarterfinals.

And while finishing first is always ideal, it’s very important in this tournament. The No. 1 team in each pool gets the fourth-place team from the other pool, while the other slots are determined via the drawing of lots between the second- and third-placed teams.
