In today’s biathlon 20km individual, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (pictured) will make his second attempt of the Sochi Olympics to win what would be a Winter Olympic-record 13th medal.

You can see it live on NBCOlympics.com starting at 9 a.m. ET.

After tying fellow Norwegian Bjorn Daehlie’s mark of 12 Winter Olympic medals with a gold in the 10km sprint last Saturday, Bjoerndalen narrowly missed taking the record outright in the 12.5km pursuit; he finished fourth in that race, just 1.7 seconds away from the bronze.

The man that won the pursuit, France’s Martin Fourcade, as well as the defending Olympic champion in the 20km individual, Norway’s Emil Hegle Svendsen, figure to be major threats in today’s event.

Team USA’s Tim Burke could also be a factor, as he claimed the silver in this very discipline at the 2013 world championships. The U.S. has never won an Olympic biathlon medal.

Can Bjoerndalen or Burke make history? Find out by clicking here at 9 a.m. ET!
