WATCH LIVE: Canada vs. Switzerland to decide who faces U.S. women’s hockey team for gold

The U.S. women’s hockey team held up its end of the bargain by advancing to the gold medal game, now Canada is expected to do the same. They are heavy, heavy favorites against Switzerland in a game that kicks off at noon ET.

Canada aims for its fourth consecutive Olympic gold and hasn’t ever lost a semifinal game. They’ve shown little reason to give the Swiss much hope for an upset.

That being said, Switzerland hasn’t ever made it to a semifinal game, so the Swiss are already playing their best hockey. If you need an extra hook, consider Jessica Lutz (pictured). Lutz’s father, Ernst, was born in Switzerland. He moved to the Washington area more than 30 years ago, found a wife, had three daughters. Jessica Lutz’s dual citizenship afforded her the opportunity to compete for Switzerland — as long as she established residency there for at least consecutive years. So knowing the Sochi Games were sneaking up, Lutz raced through her studies, graduated a year early and immediately moved overseas. She stayed in Switzerland for nearly three years before moving back to Washington last spring. By day, she served up lattes at the Coffee Bar on S Street NW near 14th.
