The USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships open Thursday in Eugene, Ore., with coverage on NBC, NBCSN, NBC Sports Live Extra, Universal Sports and USATF.TV.
Athletes will compete to earn spots on the U.S. team for the World Championships in Beijing, Aug. 22-30. The top three finishers per event earn spots on the U.S. team, should they also meet the IAAF qualifying standard by Aug. 9
In events where the U.S. has either the 2013 World champion or the 2014 Diamond League champion, the U.S. will have four spots at Worlds with the World or Diamond League champion having a bye onto the team as long as they compete in any event at the U.S. Championships.
The following athletes have byes into Worlds -- Justin Gatlin (100m), LaShawn Merritt (400m), David Oliver (110m hurdles), Michael Tinsley (400m hurdles), Christian Taylor (triple jump), Reese Hoffa (shot put), Ashton Eaton (decathlon), Allyson Felix (200m), Jenny Simpson (1500m), Brianna Rollins (100m hurdles) and Brittney Reese (long jump).
