USA Badminton named its largest-ever Olympic team of seven athletes on Tuesday:

Howard Shu -- Men’s Singles (world ranked No. 64)
Iris Wang -- Women’s Singles (No. 34)
Sattawat Pongnairat and Phillip Chew -- Men’s Doubles (No. 35)
Eva Lee and Paula Lynn Obanana -- Women’s Doubles (No. 29)
Phillip Chew and Jamie Subandhi -- Mixed Doubles (No. 27)

The U.S. will send a mixed doubles team to the Olympics for the first time. Badminton joined the Olympic program as a medal sport in 1992, with mixed doubles debuting in 1996.

Lee is the only one of the seven with Olympic experience. She lost her opening match in singles and doubles at the Beijing 2008 Games.

The U.S. has never made it past the quarterfinals in any Olympic event in badminton.

The U.S. Olympic team is now up to 122 qualified athletes. It is expected to reach more than 500 by the Aug. 5 Opening Ceremony in Rio.
