Australian Torah Bright will be the busiest snowboarder at the Sochi Olympics and any Olympics for that matter.
She is set to become the first person to compete in three different Olympic snowboarding events.
Bright, the 2010 Olympic halfpipe champion, also qualified for the new snowboarding event of slopestyle. Her bid to make it in snowboard cross came to fruition this week after other nations gave up quota places to move Australia up. She started racing snowboard cross again last year after a 12-year break from international competition.
Bright’s best chance at a medal comes in halfpipe. She won the Dew Tour iON Mountain Championships in December, beating a field that included Olympic favorite Kelly Clark.
She’s also a medal threat in slopestyle, coming off a bronze at the 2013 World Championships, but finished 10th and 16th in two World Cups this season.
Her best career snowboard cross World Cup finish is eighth.
Long ago, Bright, 27, competed in a fourth Olympic snowboarding discipline -- parallel giant slalom. She finished 32nd in the Italian National Championships in 2001.
Bright will have at least three days separating each of her competitions in Sochi.
