Tom Wallisch, an X Games and World champion slopestyle skier, nearly doubled the record for longest rail grind on skis.

Wallisch slid 424 feet, shattering the previous record of 241 feet, according to ESPN.com.

Wallisch, 28, failed to qualify for the four-man ski slopestyle team for the Sochi 2014 Olympics, one year after winning the World Championships.

Wallisch revealed after missing the team that he suffered a torn ACL in fall 2013.
