The 2020 Olympic bid cities appear to be playing a can-you-top-this game with two weeks until the International Olympic Committee vote.
Last week, Madrid 2020 announced it lined up sports superstars Pau Gasol, Rafael Nadal, Cristiano Ronaldo (who isn’t Spanish but plays for Real Madrid) and Miguel Indurain in a video to promote its bid to the IOC.
Tokyo saw that and raised it a world-record attempt. Some 1,200 people gathered at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. The record they aimed to gain in the Guinness Book of World Records was for the most people throwing hats simultaneously, according to Reuters.
The host city of the 2020 Olympics will be determined by an IOC vote on Sept. 7 in Buenos Aires. Madrid, Tokyo and Istanbul are the finalists.
